Windsor Farmers Market, North Carolina, 2011. Designed and built by 12 Studio H high school students at Bertie Early College High School. This project is the subject of the full-length documentary If You Build It.
Shipping Container Classrooms, Berkeley, California, 2012. Designed and built by 48 Studio H high school students at REALM Charter High School as a flexible learning space for the school community.
Greenhouse, Berkeley, California, 2016. Designed and built for Berkeley Youth Alternatives’ community garden by Studio H students at REALM Charter School and the advanced teen girl cohort at Girls Garage.
Chicken Pavilion, Richmond, California, 2020. This structure was designed and built by Girls Garage teens for Urban Tilth, an urban farm serving the North Richmond and the surrounding community.
Greenhouse, Berkeley, California, 2021. Built with the Advanced Design/Build cohort from Girls Garage for the Growing Leaders youth agriculture and entrepreneurship program at Willard Middle School.
Public Chicken Coops, Bertie County, North Carolina, 2011. Designed and built by 12 Studio H high school students at Bertie Early College High School. Four coops were designed and donated to families.
X-Space School Library, Berkeley, California, 2014. Modular CNC-cut bookshelf system designed and built by 105 Studio H 8th grade students at REALM Charter Middle School for their own school community.
Fruit Stand, Berkeley, California, 2017. Designed and built for Refugee Transitions, a San Francisco-based organization serving refugee families, by 24 pre-teen girls from Girls Garage summer camp.
Public Parklet Bench, Berkeley, California, 2019. Designed and built for Sanctuary Bistro by 15 teen girls from Girls Garage’s Advanced Design/Build Cohort in collaboration with the City of Berkeley.
Parade Float, San Francisco, California, 2022. A 22-foot-long giant toolbox with giant tools for the SF Pride Parade. Built with 36 high school students from Girls Garage’s free teen program.
Public Farmstands, Bertie County, North Carolina, 2012. Designed and built by 29 Studio H high school students at Bertie Early College High School. Two stands were installed in the towns of Powellsville and Windsor.
Tiny Homes for the Homeless, Berkeley, California, 2015. Designed and built by 85 Studio H high school students at REALM Charter High School for Opportunity Village in Eugene, Oregon.
Raised Planter Boxes, Berkeley, California, 2018. Designed and built for the Women’s Daytime Drop-In Center’s residential facility for homeless women, by 12 teen girls from Girls Garage’s summer building institute.
